Client: Marque Lawyers
How might we reinvigorate a progressive and growing law firm?
A positive working culture; 40% revenue increase in 6 months; and enhanced capability and impact.
The legal industry is not necessarily renowned for its inviting culture, innovative or creative thinking, or responsivity to change.
Marque Lawyers, a Sydney-based law firm, started with the conviction that ‘law as it is practised is dysfunctional and has become mired in cynicism’. The principal issue is charging for legal services on the basis of the time spent doing it.
Marque Lawyers seeks to inspire change in the legal industry, allowing clients to pay fairly for legal services and ensuring a fair sharing of risk and reward. The result: strong long-term relationships.
After 8 years of consistent growth and challenging traditional notions of best practise in law, the firm invited Hatched to help reconnect with its purpose and strategically embed the impact it creates for its team, clients and the legal industry.
First, Hatched conducted a series of 1-on-1 sessions with founders and stakeholders, sharing their individual purpose and exploring Marque Lawyers’ future.
This was followed by a 2-day offsite impact model design session with the Marque team. This session allowed for the collective articulation of a common purpose, allowed Marque Lawyers to define new impact initiatives, and effectively build on their innovative fixed pricing model — something rare in the law industry.
In developing a purpose-driven strategy that seeks to create positive change for its people, clients and community, Marque Lawyers experienced a 30% increase in revenue in just 6 months; fostered a positive working culture; increased engagement; enhanced the leadership team’s capability; and created additional impact for the firm — a successful marriage equality campaign.
